We do this to establish a standard — a way of measuring, signing, and recording one kilowatt-hour of energy production that is open to all, owned by none, and verifiable by anyone with thirty seconds and an internet connection.

We acknowledge that energy is the substrate of civilization. Every act of production, every act of transport, every act of computation rests on the conversion of one form of energy into another. Yet today, the accounting of this conversion is broken: paper certificates, spreadsheet registries, self-reported data, and the comfortable assumption that those who measure energy are honest about what they measure.

We adopt this Constitution knowing that it will be wrong in places, incomplete in others, and superseded eventually by amendment. We adopt it anyway, because the alternative — building without principles — is the failure mode of every project that came before us.
